Resveratrol in Slim Metrix: What 40 Trials Say About Weight
Resveratrol is fifth in the Slim Metrix 276 mg blend, so one capsule holds at most about 55 mg. A 2026 meta-analysis of 40 placebo-controlled trials found no effect on body weight, BMI or fat mass (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026). It may raise bleeding risk with blood thinners and change levels of some drugs (MSKCC, Resveratrol).

The basics
What is resveratrol in Slim Metrix?
Resveratrol is a polyphenol, a plant compound found in grapes, red wine, peanuts and berries (MSKCC, Resveratrol). Slim Metrix gets it from the root of Polygonum cuspidatum, better known as Japanese knotweed.
It sits fifth of eight in the proprietary blend, with no amount printed. The profile below puts the label line next to the research.
| Label name | Resveratrol (from Polygonum cuspidatum Root Extract 200:1) |
|---|---|
| What it is | A polyphenol from Japanese knotweed root |
| Type | Plant polyphenol |
| Position on the label | 5 of 8 in the blend |
| Amount per serving | Not printed (at most about 55 mg by label order) |
| What research shows | A 2026 meta-analysis of 40 trials found no effect on weight, BMI or fat mass |
| Strength of evidence | No weight effect found |
| Why it is in the formula (brand view) | Marketed as a metabolism antioxidant |
| Main caution | May raise bleeding risk with blood thinners and change levels of drugs cleared by liver enzymes. |
Blend math
How much resveratrol is in a Slim Metrix capsule?
At most about 55 mg, and probably less. Blend ingredients are listed from heaviest to lightest (FDA, Labeling guide ch. IV), so the fifth one can weigh no more than 276 ÷ 5 mg.
| Item | Amount | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Slim Metrix, most possible | About 55 mg | Fifth of eight in a 276 mg blend |
| Amount printed on the label | Not published | Only the blend total is shown |
| Group where fasting glucose fell | 100 to 500 mg a day | Only in that group and in short trials |
| High doses with stomach side effects | 2.5 to 5 g a day | Nausea, gas, belly pain, diarrhea |
The "200:1" on the label is a concentration ratio for the root extract. It is not an amount per capsule, and the label does not say what share of the extract is resveratrol. The full blend line is on the Supplement Facts page.
Brand graphics
Does Slim Metrix show resveratrol on its packaging graphics?
Yes. Resveratrol is one of six ingredients pictured in the brand's "Inside Slim Metrix" graphic, and the bottle graphic's formula tile names it too. That puts it on equal footing with berberine and green tea extract in the marketing, even though the label places it fifth, behind alpha-lipoic acid, green tea, milk thistle and berberine.
Being pictured is not the same as being a large dose. The label order is the better guide to what you get.
Weight
Does resveratrol help with weight loss?
No, according to the largest review we found. A 2026 meta-analysis pooled 40 placebo-controlled trials with 2,551 people, run from 2010 to 2024. Resveratrol had no significant effect on weight, BMI, fat mass, or waist or hip size (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026).
Trials pooled
All randomized and placebo-controlled, published 2010 to 2024 (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026).
People studied
A large pool for a supplement. Still no weight or fat-mass effect (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026).
Body-size measures improved
Weight, BMI, fat mass, waist and hip size showed no significant change (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026).
The sales page credits the formula with a "metabolic boost" (Slim Metrix sales page). The research on resveratrol does not support a weight effect on its own, and the formula itself has never been tested.
Metabolic markers
Can resveratrol improve blood sugar or cholesterol?
Possibly a little, in trials using their own doses. The same 2026 review found modest improvements in insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure and CRP, a marker of inflammation (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026).
Fasting glucose fell significantly only in short trials and in the 100 to 500 mg a day group (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026). Memorial Sloan Kettering is more cautious. It calls the data on metabolic syndrome in people with obesity inconclusive, reports no effect on insulin sensitivity in overweight adults, and notes a Cochrane review found too little evidence for diabetes (MSKCC, Resveratrol).
The sales page talks about blood sugar "already within normal range" (Slim Metrix sales page). Normal means fasting glucose of 99 mg/dL or lower and an A1C under 5.7% (NIDDK, Diabetes tests). If yours is higher, see your doctor rather than a supplement.

Does resveratrol interact with blood thinners or other drugs?
It can. Memorial Sloan Kettering says resveratrol may increase bleeding risk with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs. It also slows three liver enzymes, CYP3A4, 2D6 and 2C9, which may raise blood levels of some medicines (MSKCC, Resveratrol).
If you take a blood thinner, an antiplatelet drug or any medicine your pharmacist says is cleared by those enzymes, check before taking Slim Metrix. People with hormone-sensitive cancers should also use caution with resveratrol (MSKCC, Resveratrol).
Tell your care team you take it before any surgery; NCCIH notes some supplements raise bleeding risk or affect anesthesia (NCCIH, Using supplements wisely). The full list of cautions is on the side effects page.
Fair verdict
Is the resveratrol in Slim Metrix worth paying for?
In its favor
- Named clearly, with its plant source.
- Modest marker changes in pooled trials.
- Stomach side effects were tied to grams a day, far above this.
Against it
- No weight, BMI or fat-mass effect in 40 trials.
- Amount not printed; at most about 55 mg.
- Bleeding and drug-level cautions.
Resveratrol is a reasonable antioxidant to study, not a reason to expect weight change. Compare the other claims on the claims and evidence page.

What other ingredients are in the Slim Metrix blend?
Next in line is cayenne, then ginseng and banaba. One place ahead sits berberine, the ingredient most people ask about. All profiles are linked below.
FAQ
Resveratrol in Slim Metrix: common questions
What is the resveratrol dose in one Slim Metrix capsule?
The label does not print an amount. Resveratrol is fifth in a 276 mg blend, so by its place it can weigh at most about 55 mg per capsule, and probably less. The 200:1 on the label is an extract ratio, not a dose.
Does resveratrol help you lose weight?
Not in the best evidence available. A 2026 meta-analysis of 40 placebo-controlled trials with 2,551 people found no significant effect on body weight, BMI, fat mass, or waist or hip size (Shen et al., In Vivo 2026). It may nudge some metabolic markers, but not the scale.
What is Polygonum cuspidatum?
It is Japanese knotweed, a plant whose root is one source of resveratrol (MSKCC, Resveratrol). The Slim Metrix label lists "Resveratrol (from Polygonum cuspidatum Root Extract 200:1)." Resveratrol also occurs in grapes, red wine, peanuts and berries.
Is resveratrol safe to take every day?
At small amounts it is generally well tolerated; stomach upset was reported at 2.5 to 5 g a day (MSKCC, Resveratrol). The bigger issue is interactions. It may raise bleeding risk with blood thinners and change levels of drugs cleared by certain liver enzymes, so check with a pharmacist.
Is resveratrol risky with blood-thinning medicine?
Ask your doctor first. Memorial Sloan Kettering says resveratrol may increase bleeding risk with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (MSKCC, Resveratrol). Slim Metrix also contains ginseng, which may affect clotting, so the combination deserves a real conversation before you start.
Is a resveratrol capsule better than drinking red wine?
It is the same compound from a different source, without the alcohol. Slim Metrix uses an extract of Japanese knotweed root, while red wine gets its resveratrol from grapes (MSKCC, Resveratrol). Neither is a weight tool, and the Slim Metrix label does not print how much resveratrol you get.
